Ideas for Reception/Cocktail Lehengas - Non Bridal

I love lehengas! The flowy skirts and the vibrant colours. And the best thing about them is they don't look as monotonous as the over done anarkali suits nor are they as difficult to wear and carry off as the saree. As of now my bridal lehenga is the only lehenga I own. But I'm planning to get something done for my cousin's reception.

So here are some of the non bridal, non heavy and non traditional (meant for cocktails/receptions) options that I have compiled. Thought it'll be a list of good use for everyone else too.

Pastels:

I love pastels and they are so in this spring. 

Just love this outfit of Deepika's from Break ke Baad. Infact my wedding lehenga is also made of the same colours.

Love the mix of dull gold with these pretty pastel pinks!

When it comes to pastels in Indian wear there's no one better than Manish Malhotra to look upto for some inspiration.

Whites:

White always makes one look elegant, whether paired with a dark colour or on its own.

Brights

Pastels may not be everyone's thing. But eye catching brights are certainly everyone's favorites when it comes to Indian festive wear.

Blacks and Darks

The problem with black is that a lot of Indian customs don't approve of the colour for auspicious occassions. Thus, when it comes to occassions like pheras, mehendis and poojas the colour is totally ruled out. Leaving only receptions and cocktails. Love these lehengas in dark colours. How gracious do they look.
